Most photographers and iPad users may argue upon the use of the iPad as an editing platform. Wouldn't it be better to edit photos on a personal computer or Mac using a robust editing software than using the iPad apps?
Our counter argument would be that editing on the iPad is unmatched when it comes to quick and uncomplicated editing.

Photogene
By far one of the best photo-editing tools for the iPhone and the iPad, Photogene is no lite editing software. You can carry out series of editing at the touch of your hand. You can adjust the color saturation, sharpen the photos, add effects such as sepia or B/W, add/edit text, add borders, modify the color curve (not many apps offer this one) and even save the photo to the desired resolution. Double click to zoom and edit specific areas.
A reset button will take you back to the unaltered original image. You can share the photo on Twitter and Facebook or email it directly from the app.
PhotoPal
PhotoPal is one of the simplest full-fledged editing tools in the App Store. It is great for users who have never done any editing previously, but would like to turn the heat on with some experimentation. Some of the salient features are its red-eye removal tool, unwanted spot eraser and the de-noise tool (to get rid of the unwanted fuzziness).
The instant sharing on Twitter, Facebook and Flickr is another great addition on PhotoPal making it an all-in-one package for easy editing.
PixelMagic
PixelMagic can be counted as one of the top professional editing app developed for the iPad. It has features equivalent to a PC/Mac based photo editing software. There are 12 different category of tools, each harboring at least 10 more further options. The tool manager is fairly simple for such an advanced app, making the editing a joyous affair.
PhotoPad
PhotoPad was created specifically for the iPad. It comes with all the usual basic editing tools such as cropping, paint brush, paint bucket, rotate, image scaling, filters, color adjustments, and plenty more. Each of these can be adjusted further more to create custom effects.
However, the cons include: No option for sharing or email. The photos can be only in the photos folder of the iPad. In addition, you cannot set the aspect ratio or the pixel specification for the crop tool.
It is free and fantastic if you want a lighter editing app for your wedding photos.
Filterstorm
This app was developed by a photographer for editing on the go. This app has a clone tool, aspect ratio lockable crop tool, canvas adjustment tools (color, hue, b/w, scale, rotate, etc.) and a worthwhile collection of filters that makes it a powerful editing tool. As you edit the application creates a visual history of your edits. This makes it easier to undo your edits. Only drawback is, it was not created exclusively for the iPad and lacks the Apple feel.
