The Use of Props in Wedding Photography

As much as we love them, wedding photography has come a long way from the mandatory sitting posed photos of our grandparents. With the advancement in film and now digital photography, we can safely say that Photography has truly come into an art form of its own.

This is not limited to only abstract or fashion photography. More and more people are incorporating artistic flair to their wedding and engagement photography.

So when you read the title of this article you might think the idea of using props for your wedding sounds just plain tacky... and yes, you'd be right in many cases! But using props, styling and interesting locations is becoming highly popular and for good reason, when done well it looks awesome.

Many people now want personal and interesting touches in all aspects of their wedding, including their photography. Props and locations that are well thought out and mean something to you can add a fun, quirky and downright beautiful touch to your wedding and the photography of your day. All you have to do is check out some of the popular modern wedding blogs (i.e Style Me Pretty, Ruffled, Polka Dot Bride, Rock and Roll Bride) any day of the week to gain inspiration and point you in the right direction.

If you decide to book an engagement session, you can take your creative ideas even further. Just think about what matters to you, your colour palette, or just something that you happen to love the look of! This can really bring your personality out in the photos and make them photos you remember for life, instead of the ones you through in a corner and leave to gather dust.
